Export-Import Bank senior vice president Anthony Scaramuccitweeted his support for Donald Trump Jr. after The New York Times reported on Sunday that he agreed to meet with a Kremlin-linked lawyer during the 2016 campaign after being promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton.
In a statement to the Times, Trump Jr. confirmed to the Times that he met with the lawyer at the request of an acquaintance, but said he did not receive any information on Clinton.
Scaramucci was appointed to a top position at the bank after he had been under consideration for a number of other roles in the administration, Politico reported.
Scaramucci was a prominent surrogate and fundraiser during President Donald Trump’s election campaign.
