The ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., a frequent and vocal critic of President Donald Trump, admitted James Comey's testimony on Attorney General Loretta Lynch meddling in the FBI investigation of Hillary Clinton made him "queasy."
"It does give me a queasy feeling as well," Rep. Schiff told CNN's "State of the Union" host Dana Bash.
Schiff, however, did follow up with political justification for perceived dirtiness of Lynch's request for her FBI director, Comey, to call the Clinton investigation "a matter" amid the Democrat's presidential campaign.
"There may be a perfectly accurate explanation by Loretta lynch about why she thought 'matter' was the appropriate term rather than 'investigation,'" Schiff excused. "I wouldn't assume James Comey's characterization is the last word on it, although I'm sure it's accurate.
"I would like to hear what Loretta Lynch's explanation for that is, either by having her come to the hill or speak publicly."
Schiff dismissed the idea of his House Intelligence Committee asking Lynch to testify on Comey's claim.
"I don't know that this is really part of the Russia investigation; this was more part of the Clinton e-mail investigation, so I'm not sure it's within our purview," Schiff told Bash. "But I would like to hear what they are explanation for that was. But I certainly wouldn't want that to distract us from what we need to do to get to the bottom of the Russia allegations."
