Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke ended the annual Conservative Political Action Conference Saturday by slamming liberal politicians for lacking the "courage to do what's morally right" and for refusing to "boldly leave the safety of the middle to enact the agenda that the American people have cried out for."

"They do not make choices based on any core beliefs," Clarke told the gathering at National Harbor outside Washington. "They are certainly not prepared to be bold and aggressive in leading."

Clarke was the final speaker at CPAC, which began on Wednesday, and featured a bevy of Republican speakers — including President Donald Trump, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and conservative political commentator Michael Reagan.

The sheriff cited, for instance, the debate on illegal immigration.

"Those that oppose the rule of law and the applicability of the law and immigration — in other avenues of American life, they offer no vision.

"Only lawlessness, obstruction and chaos.

"They offer no morality and certainly no courage," Clarke said. "They offer only appeasement and the false currencies of concession and popularity over the virtues of morality and certainty."
