The Justice Department should be pursing a conspiracy investigation on Glenn Simpson and the company he co-founded, Fusion GPS, which was behind the dossier to smear President Donald Trump, former federal prosecutor Sidney Powell told Newsmax TV.
By pleading the Fifth Amendment to Congress this week, "[Simpson] is trying to save his own hide, because there's evidence already in possession of Congress that directly contradicts what he told them," Powell told Thursday's "The Brett Winterble Show."
"So, he's looking at a potential perjury charge and other charges, as well, rising out of his participation in the conspiracy to completely destroy Donald Trump, stop him from becoming president, and then to impeach him thereafter."

Powell added a call for an investigation to get to the bottom of Simpson's perjury and potential conspiracy against the U.S. president.
"He should be pursued by either the U.S. attorney in the District of Columbia or by the Department of Justice itself," she told host Brett Winterble. "Those people should not be allowed to get by with what they've done, and there's evidence against Simpson already. So, hopefully, somebody's got a Grand Jury and is looking into it further.
"Frankly, I don't know why they haven't already run a search warrant against his home and Fusion GPS. They've certainly got probable cause to do so."
Powell is author of "Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice."
