A boy who the White House says has been bullied because his last name is Trump will attend the State of the Union as President Donald Trump and Melania Trump's guest.
"Unfortunately, Joshua has been bullied in school due to his last name," a White House release said of sixth-grader Joshua Trump, of Wilmington, Delaware.
"He is thankful to the first lady and the Trump family for their support."
Melania Trump's "Be Best" initiative raises awareness about cyber-bullying and focuses on the physical and mental health of children.
Joshua Trump, 11, started going by Joshua Berto in December after using his mother's last name led to constant bullying.
"They curse at him, they call him an idiot, they call him stupid," Megan Trump told ABC Philadelphia station WPVI, adding Joshua "hates himself, and he hates his last name, and he feels sad all the time. He doesn't want to live feeling like that anymore, and, as a parent, that's scary."
Trump is set to deliver his address Tuesday night on Capitol Hill.
