Georgia’s election for governor was neither fair nor free, Democratic gubernatorial nominee Stacey Abrams told MSNBC.

Abrams, who announced on Friday that she was ending her challenge to Republican opponent Brian Kemp’s narrow victory, said that “we had thousands of Georgians who were purged from the rolls wrongly, including a 92-year-old woman who had voted in the same area since 1968 - a civil rights leader.”

Abrams said the election was also “not fair to the thousands who were forced to wait in long lines because there were polling places that were under-resourced or worse, they had no polling places to go to, because more than 300 had been closed.”

She emphasized that “Brian Kemp oversaw - for eight years [as Georgia’s secretary of state] - the systematic and systemic dismantling of our democracy, and that means there could not be free and fair elections in Georgia this year.”

Abrams added that she has created an organization called Fair Fight Georgia in an attempt to battle against voter suppression in the state, saying that she plans to file a federal lawsuit next week “that will allege the gross mismanagement that we have seen and that we have been able to document.”

Abrams added that she plans to run in a future election, although she said she had not yet decided for which office and when.
