The State Department is investigating whether Hillary Clinton and her aides mishandled classified material while she was secretary of state, Fox News reported.

Clinton could lose her security clearances, which she and her aides still have despite being long gone from the department, Fox reported.

The department is formally investigating whether Clinton and her team violated protocols for handling classified information by using a private email server, Fox reported.

A Clinton spokesman dismissed the probe.

"Nothing's been more thoroughly dissected. It's over. Case closed. Literally," the spokesman told Fox News.

Regardless, the watchdog Judicial Watch told Fox that Clinton should lose her security privileges.

"Their conduct has cost them that privileged position of special trust and confidence," Chris Farrell told Fox.

In fact, Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton called for a new investigation into Clinton's handling of classified material earlier this month.

"These are emails that we didn't know about before," Fitton told Newsmax TV. "Mrs. Clinton said she turned them all over. Obviously she didn't, so we should be questioning whether she was telling the truth under oath to Congress."
