Stephen Bannon is now out of "hibernation" and has resumed his role as President Donald Trump's chief adviser and strategist in the White House, Axios reported.

Bannon has seemingly survived April's private-leaked-public feuding with Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, and is enjoying being back in the co-pilot's chair of steering Trump's vision and platform, Axios reported.

"He's not cocky — he's comfortable," a friend told Axios. "And he understands the game."

Bannon has always been the brain behind the brand of populism that Trump rode into the White House, and Axios reports that his "worldview" is more Trump than Kushner, or even his daughter Ivanka.

Bannon is a base-first, base-only tactician who supports and encourages Trump's wars with the media, cold shoulder to NATO, and the hard line on immigration, Axios reported.

"Trump loves the fight, and Bannon loves the fight," a friend told Axios.
