Rep. Steve King, an Iowa Republican, says impeachment of President Barack Obama is not off the table, but Democrats are wrong to say it's about hatred of the president.
"Most of us personally like the president," King said on "Fox News Sunday." "It's not about mad, it's not about hate, it is about the Constitution."
Republicans have been shying away from impeachment talk in recent days, with many saying Obama is actually daring Republicans to make the move because he believes it will hurt them in November's midterms.
But King said that if Obama continues with his promise to
shield 5 million illegal immigrants from deportation in the coming weeks, there may be no other alternative.
"That includes that 'I-word" that we don't want to say," King said. "Where would we draw the line otherwise?"
Republicans already are frustrated at multiple executive orders, many of them making changes to Obama's own signature healthcare law, which they opposed, but believe he is delaying parts of to avoid political fallout for his party.
"I want to encourage the president: Please don't put America into a constitutional crisis. Please don't do that," King said. "There's too much at stake in this country to decide that you can take over the Constitution and write it at will."
