A serial New York City subway surfer was charged Friday with pulling the emergency brakes on a Manhattan train — and is suspected of a spree that left thousands of riders stuck in tunnels.
Isaiah Thompson, 23, of Brooklyn, was hit with charges in two incidents — one involving pulling the emergency brake on a Manhattan train and another in which he allegedly exposed himself to people on a Manhattan subway platform as he rode a train outside the rear car, the New York Daily News reported.
“(Thompson) has mentioned in the past that he enjoys this, that he enjoys the thrill and he has done in the past,” New York Police Department Transit Inspector Brian McGee said, the News reported. “He likes to do this. He likes to cause havoc.”
Thompson has racked up charges in seven past incidents of subway surfing the News reported.
He’s now been accused of riding outside the rear car of a northbound No. 2 train in Manhattan Tuesday night, then allegedly bringing the subway to a screeching halt by pulling the emergency brake — and is under investigation for alleged involvement in a series of emergency brake pulls that have affected thousands of riders on the nation’s largest subway system.
