Kavanaugh Memo Listed Sexually Explicit Questions for Bill Clinton

By    |   Monday, 20 August 2018 02:53 PM EDT

Back when Supreme Court justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh was an associate for independent counsel Ken Starr, he called for tough treatment of then-President Bill Clinton, including proposing a list of sexually explicit questions for him about his relationship with intern Monica Lewinsky, according to a 1998 memo released Monday.

Some of the memo had been previously reported, according to The Washington Post, but the full document was not made public until Monday, in response to a Freedom of Information Act request by The Post to the National Archives.

The memo, addressed to Starr and "all attorneys" had the subject line "Slack for the President?" and contained Kavanaugh's advice for proceeding with a list of 10 suggested questions — mostly of a sexually explicit nature  —  for Clinton. He spoke out about giving the president a "break" unless he resigned or "confesses perjury."

"He has required the urgent attention of the courts and the Supreme Court for frivolous privilege claims — all to cover up his oral sex from an intern," the memo continued. "He has lied to his aides. He has lied to the American people. He has tried to disgrace you and the Office with a sustained propaganda campaign that would make Nixon blush."

He also said he thought Starr and his associates would be failing in their investigation if they willingly "'conspire' with the president in an effort to conceal the true nature of his acts."
