By    |   Sunday, 11 August 2024 09:49 AM EDT

Nearly half of Israelis are living with the fear of an impending civil war, according to a new survey reported by The Jerusalem Post.

According to an N12 Ulpan Shishi survey conducted by Meno Geva, 46% of Israelis fear a civil war, while 48% don’t carry that same anxiety; 6% said they were unsure.

Of the 510 respondents, 70% said Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir was a divisive public figure; only 19% said he was a unifier. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu polled similarly, with 62% viewing him as divisive and 30% as a unifier.

Only five politicians were ranked by those polled as unifiers: President Isaac Herzog, former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Benny Gantz, Gadi Eisenkot of the National Unity Party, and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.
