The head of the largest anti-abortion organization in the country has vowed to spend $41 million in the upcoming election cycle to help elect “pro-life” candidates, The Hill reports.
Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser said Monday night that her group will “work closely with our local allies on the most ambitious pro-life legislative agenda in history to aggressively challenge, erode and finally overturn Roe v. Wade.
“On top of this, we’ll be protecting our pro-life Senate majority, increasing our ranks in the House, and reelecting [President] Donald Trump,” added Dannenfelser, who served as the chair of the Trump campaign’s anti-abortion coalition in 2016.
She made the remarks during a fundraising dinner in Washington, where Nikki Haley, the former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, gave the keynote address and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., received the “Distinguished Leader Award.”
She went on to praise Alabama and Georgia for passing some of the “strongest bills ever” against abortion, saying that “state lawmakers acting on their constituents’ will have been emboldened to advance pro-life legislation like never before.”
Dannenfelser said that Republicans and her group will portray Democrats as being radical on abortion.
“Going into 2020, abortion extremists are giving us an unlikely gift, are they not?” she said.
“They know that the Roe regime is unwinding and coming to an end. They are overreaching.”
