Fox Sports host Terry Bradshaw criticized President Donald Trump on Sunday for the president's statement that NFL players who refuse to stand for the national anthem should be fired or suspended.
Bradshaw, a Hall of Fame quarterback, said, "While I don't condone the protest during our national anthem, this is America. If our country stands for anything, folks, it's freedom. People died for that freedom. I'm not sure if our president understands those rights — that every American has the right to speak out and also to protest."
The longtime Fox commentator said that instead of the president of the United States "attacking NFL players for them exercising their freedom of speech," he should turn his attention to much more pressing issues.
"Believe me, these athletes do love this great country of ours," Bradshaw said. "Personally, I think our president should concentrate on serious issues like North Korea and healthcare rather than ripping into athletes and the NFL."
