Billionaire political donor Tom Steyer is vowing to push every Democratic candidate for president to support President Donald Trump’s impeachment, The Atlantic is reporting.
“If you’re against impeachment, don’t bother running,” he said. “Save your time. Drive an Uber.”
Volunteers from Steyer’s organization, Need to Impact, already have attended some campaign events by Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass. And they plan on expanding their efforts to other candidates, as well.
Steyer already has put $40 million of his own money into his efforts to get lawmakers to impeach Trump and his planning to contribute another $50 million, according to The Atlantic.
Plans call for Steyer and his staff to fan out across the nation. They plan on canvassing nationwide and attending Democratic campaign events.
But an adviser to one candidate said: “Serious people who want to hold this president accountable for his crimes know it has to come after (special counsel Robert) Mueller’s findings become public.”
But Steyer maintained: “We are living in (Trump’s) personal hell. He’s bringing it to us on a daily basis. And we’ve got to get out of it.”
Trump has called Steyer a crazed and stumbling lunatic.
