Billionaire Democrat donor Tom Steyer plans to inject an additional $16 million into Democratic efforts to upend Republicans in the Nov. 6 midterm elections.
According to CNBC, Steyer's expenditure over the final 11 days of the campaign will be part of the $120 million he had already set aside for the election. The money will go into his Need to Impeach campaign and the super PAC he controls, the NextGen Climate Action Committee.
The news outlet noted that Steyer's PAC has taken in $42 million in donations and has spent $1.3 million to help Democratic candidates for the midterms. Steyer has spent $41 million of his own money on the 2018 midterms.
Steyer is one of several liberal billionaires spending millions of dollars to help left-leaning candidates in the midterms. Democrats are hoping to take back control of the House and Senate on Election Day.
