Trump: 'Never Been Crowds Like This' in Midterm History

By    |   Monday, 05 November 2018 12:55 PM EST

When President Donald Trump pulled off the 2016 election shocker, he credited the huge crowds at his rallies – which he now also trumpets before Tuesday's midterm elections, calling them the largest in midterms history.

"This is electricity in the air like I haven't seen since the '16 big victory that we all had together," Trump told a Macon, Georgia, campaign rally for GOP gubernatorial candidate Brian Kemp.

". . . There have never been crowds like this – just so you understand – in the history of politics. You've never had crowds like this for midterm elections."

Trump added his usual rips on the fake news media, saying the cameras at his rallies only turn around for random violent protests – when they whip them around "like pretzels," Trump said – never showing how large and energized his supporters are.

"They never turn them around, folks. . . . This is incredible, and I really wish the fake news media would show the crowds because they don't do it."

Trump opened his speech for Kemp, the embattled Georgia Secretary of State who is running against Democrat Stacey Abrams in a very tight race, to the raucous chants of "U.S.A."

"Thank you very much, Georgia," he opened. "This is like being at a Georgia football game. Wow."

President Trump then began to dig against the media's coverage of his rallies, adding a call for this being "one of the most important elections of our lifetime."

This is a very important election – I wouldn't say it's as important as '16 – but it's right up there," Trump said.
