Donald Trump is losing ground with Republican voters and is on pace to register the lowest favorability rating ever, a Gallup Poll analyst writes.

At the same time, Ben Carson's image has been improving dramatically.

Gallup, which usually evaluates its daily polls on a 14-day average, focused its analysis on the seven days after the Sept.16 Republican presidential debate.

During that time, Trump's favorability rating has fallen significantly from a 32 percentage point lead for GOP voters who view him favorably versus those who view him unfavorably to just 13 points, the analysis shows.

"If that trend continues, it would be his lowest net favorable rating among Republicans since we began tracking his image," analyst Frank Newport writes.

Carson' favorables scored a 63-point margin on his unfavorables during the same time, Gallup said. His surge came at the time of his repeated assertions, first surfacing on "Meet the Press," that a Muslim should not be president.

The Gallup analysis also indicates that Jeb Bush's image remains weak with GOP voters, with a 13-point favorability margin for the seven-day period, while Carly Fiorina has a 38-point favorability rating.
