President Donald Trump sent out a tweet on Tuesday morning lashing out at the leadership of the FBI.
“The rank and file of the FBI are great people who are disgusted with what they are learning about Lyin’ James Comey and the so-called “leaders” of the FBI,” the president wrote. “Twelve have been fired or forced to leave. They got caught spying on my campaign and then called it an investigation. Bad!”
Trump’s tweet came after the New York Times reported over the weekend that federal law enforcement officials were so concerned about the president’s behavior following his firing of Comey from the FBI that they launched an investigation into whether he had been working for Russia against American interests.
Trump already reacted to the report on Saturday during a telephone interview on Fox News after host Jeanine Pirro asked whether he is currently or has ever worked for Moscow.
"I think it's the most insulting thing I've ever been asked," he said. "I think it's the most insulting article I've ever had written, and if you read the article you'll see that they found absolutely nothing."
