The Trump Foundation may have reported at least five donations that don't appear to exist, The Washington Post reports.
The newspaper says it found the discrepancies after reviewing 24 years of foundation's tax filings and contacting more than 200 people and groups who were named as donors or recipients of gifts.
In these cases, The Post says, the foundation listed amounts of money to a specific charities with their addresses. But when contacted, the charities said the tax filings appeared wrong and they had never received anything from the foundation.
When the Post asked Donald Trump's staff to explain these five gaffes, it commented on one — an improper donation to a group supporting Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi. A staffer said the error occurred because of a "complete mess-up on names."
Trump this year paid the IRS a $2,500 penalty after his foundation did not disclose a $25,000 political contribution to Bondi in 2013.
