President Donald Trump took to Twitter Sunday to defend his Puerto Rico response again.
Many lawmakers, public officials and entertainers have criticized Trump’s response to the devastation on the island from Hurricane Maria, which hit the mainland on Sept. 20 as a Category 4 storm.
The tweet included a video titled, "What the Fake News will not show you in Puerto Rico," and shows the Department of Defense, FEMA, the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Coast Guard, Red Cross and U.S. Air Force working in Puerto Rico.
The president visited Puerto Rico last Tuesday as the island was still reeling with many of the 3.4 million people desperate for power, food and other supplies. Only 9.2 percent of Puerto Ricans have access to power as Maria wiped out the island’s entire electrical grid and more than half have access to clean drinking water.
So far, the Trump administration has sent more than 10,000 relief workers to Puerto Rico, including 7,200 troops, according to Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert. An Army general has been put in charge of recovery efforts and several thousand additional troops will soon be sent to the island.
Trump earlier Sunday also tweeted that FEMA and first aid responders were working hard on providing relief from Hurricane Nate, a Category 1 storm which made landfall in Mississippi early Sunday morning.
