Donald Trump says his new hotel in the Old Post Office building in downtown Washington "will be one of the fine ... and maybe the finest" hotels in the world.
Trump joined federal and local leaders on Wednesday morning for a ceremonial groundbreaking at the 115-year-old building. He hopes its $200 million transformation into a Trump International Hotel will be complete by late 2016.
The Old Post Office is on Pennsylvania Avenue between the White House and the Capitol. Its 315-foot observation tower is the third-tallest structure in the District of Columbia.
Trump did not say whether building a hotel near the White House would rekindle his presidential ambitions, but he did say it shows he can create jobs, which is "what the country has to be doing."
