President Donald Trump called Roseanne Barr to offer his congratulations on the return of her comedy series and to thank her for supporting him, The New York Times reports.
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders confirmed the call.
Barr has been a defender of Trump and her TV character plays a supporter of the president.
The ABC series, "Roseanne," returned to TV this week after more than two decades, the Times noted. The show, broadcast on Tuesday evening, average 18.2 million viewers, according to the newspaper.
Trump was enthralled by the "huge" ratings "Roseanne" received, an unnamed source told the newspaper.
During the phone call with the show's star, Trump reminded her of a time when they crossed paths in New York, a source told Axios.
