President Donald Trump lashed out on Twitter against the court that blocked his order to withhold funding from "sanctuary cities" calling it a "ridiculous" ruling and vowing to take his fight to the Supreme Court.
He later followed up on that tweet with others ripping into the court.
Federal Judge William Orrick, in a ruling on Tuesday, had sided with Santa Clara County, the city of San Francisco and other jurisdictions, CNN reported. They had maintained that a threat to take away federal money from cities not cooperating with some federal immigration enforcement could be unconstitutional, according to the news network.
The 9th Circuit Court had upheld a nationwide block on Trump's first travel ban, CNN said. A second attempt by the administration to implement a re-written version of the ban has also been blocked by the courts.
