The son of CNN founder Ted Turner says the cable news network his father created is now so liberal it’s difficult to watch — and has seen its ratings plummet as a result.
“They’re pretty much to the left. I don’t think there’s any question about that,’’ Teddy Turner told Newsmax TV’s “The Steve Malzberg Show.’’

“I have a hard time watching them a lot of times.’’
Turner, who this week ran for Congress in South Carolina’s GOP primary and lost, added he’s not impressed at how CNN’s new president Jeff Zucker has tweaked the network.

“They [may have] said, well, let’s give up the fair and balanced and we’ll stay to the left and own that niche,’’ Turner said, invoking competitor Fox News Channel’s slogan.
“I have no idea what their marketing plan is.’’
Turner, who worked off and on at CNN for years, said he had discussions with network brass about its changing political slant, but to no avail.
“[I] said, listen, the left is not the way to go in talk radio or in talk TV because that’s not who’s listening,’’ he said.
Turner noted that he “mostly’’ watches Fox News but “I switch around.’’
Asked by host Steve Malzberg about criticism by CNN host Piers Morgan, a native of Britain, of the Constitution’s Second Amendment, Turner said he’s not impressed.
“Anybody who is trashing the Constitution at any point I got problems with because it’s a pretty simple document and pretty brilliant,’’ he said.
“CNN’s ratings are not great and I don’t think they’re ever going to get back to where they were.’’
