Theresa May, the new prime minister of Britain, has revealed she would not hesitate to fire nuclear weapons if needed — even if they wiped out "hundreds of thousands."

The Independent reports that May admitted nukes were always an option during a parliamentary debate on the renewal of the Trident nuclear weapons program.

Asked by Scottish National Party's George Kerevan, "Are you prepared to authorize a nuclear strike that could kill hundreds of thousands of men, women and children?" May replied: "Yes."

She also told Parliament it would be "an act of gross irresponsibility" for the United Kingdom to end its nuclear weapons program.
