The former president of Mexico has penned a scathing opinion piece in which he says Donald Trump will drag the United States to "the bottom of the ocean, all the way through the shores of ignorance, racism, hunger and despair" if he makes it to the White House.
Writing in
London's Guardian newspaper, Vicente Fox bristles at Trump's idea of getting Mexico to pay for the construction of 10-foot-high border wall by stopping the flow of billions of dollars sent by immigrants in the U.S. to their families back home.
"He thinks building the 'Trump Wall' will right every wrong in the United States. Indeed, he's built a huge mental wall around himself already, which doesn't allow him to see the
greatness of our people," Fox writes.
"Trump is surely a false prophet who will guide the great nation of the United States to the bottom of the ocean, all the way through the shores of ignorance, racism, hunger and despair."
Fox has tangled with the billionaire developer and Republican presidential front-runner for months, once comparing him to Adolf Hitler.
Trump sparked controversy last year while touting his wall, stating: "When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best … They're sending people that have lots of problems … They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."
