White House National Security Adviser John Bolton seemed to place some blame on Iran for recent drone attacks in the Middle East in comments made Thursday.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Bolton spoke with the media in London in regards to Iran. It is believed the rogue nation was behind recent attacks on oil tankers and a refinery in the Middle East.

"The Houthi capability in drones and missiles, all supplied by Iran, is a real threat to peace and security in the region," Bolton said.

During a visit to Abu Dhabi Wednesday, Bolton said the attacks on four oil tankers off the coast of the United Arab Emirates were likely the work of Iranian naval mines.

The United States has sent an aircraft carrier strike group, bombers, and additional soldiers to the Middle East after intelligence picked up a threat from Iran that warranted a response.

Bolton indicated Thursday it is time for Iran to shape up and come to the negotiating table with the U.S.

"This is not the way a normal nation behaves," he said. "If the Iranians want to negotiate with us, this kind of behavior has to stop."
