The investigations into President Donald Trump and into the Trump Organization have become the "greatest witch hunt in American history," the president's oldest son, Donald Trump Jr. said while hitting back on reports concerning phone calls he made before his meeting at Trump Tower during his father's presidential campaign.
"They have tried whatever they can do to make our lives miserable that way," Trump Jr., the vice-president of the Trump Organization, told Fox News' "Fox & Friends" on Wednesday. "They have been doing it to me for two years on other issues. The reality is there is nothing there. We are an incredible business. We focus on our existing assets. They are trying to make it very difficult for us to grow."
Trump Jr. also blasted reports had initially indicated he called his father before his meeting at Trump Tower with Russians promising information about Hillary Clinton, only to have it reported last week the calls were not to the then-candidate.
"They asked me in Congress two years ago, you got a call on some random day for two-and-a-half minutes from a blocked number, you say I don't know. I don't remember," Trump Jr. said. "I don't know who called me yesterday."
However, Trump Jr. said there was no followup on the story's new version.
"I talked to two friends who happen to have blocked numbers," Trump Jr. said. "I think it is time that Americans get real answers for this, rather than allowing the leftists who are running this operation to keep perpetuating these falsehoods about my father, my family. They're doing this country a major disservice."
