ISIS Justifies Treating Captives as Sexual Slaves

By    |   Monday, 13 October 2014 07:25 AM EDT

The latest issue of Dabiq, the English-language digital propaganda magazine of the Islamic State (ISIS), justifies the sexual enslavement of Yazidi "pagans" on religious grounds, CNN reported.

While Islam permits Jews and Christians to live in Muslim society in a subservient position by paying a special toleration tax, that option is closed to the Yazidis, the magazine says.

The article implies that the continued existence of the Yazidi people is religiously problematic from an Islamic perspective.

An article titled, "The Revival of Slavery Before the Hour," meaning prior to the Islamic apocalypse, comments that the absence of slavery had contributed to adultery and fornication, since Koran-sanctioned sexual relations were unavailable. It outlines the religious basis for female Yazidis being treated as war spoils and turned into concubines.

The 56-page page magazine contains graphic pictures of dead children the group claims were killed in U.S. airstrikes, as well as those killed by the Islamic State, including Kurdish fighters and Western hostages. There is also an illustrated article on the social services the Islamic State administers on behalf of the sick and elderly in its territory.

The magazine says that the group beheaded U.S. journalist Steven Sotloff because he was really a Jewish spy. It criticized the "Jewish crusader" Henry Kissinger for saying that Iran, because of its quest for nuclear weapons, was a bigger strategic danger to the West than the Islamic State, warning that the former U.S. secretary of state was underestimating the group.

The apocalyptic magazine foresees a future where Islam will "crush" the cross of Christianity. It urges "every Muslim" to "get out of his house" find "a crusader and kill him" because it is important that attacks take place in every country.

Meanwhile, British-born jihadi women are reportedly operating the brothels where the Islamic State fighters can sexually assault captured Yazidi women, the Daily Mirror reported.

The female jihadis are purportedly members of a special religious police unit.
