2016 GOP Debate Hosts May Include Limbaugh, Hannity

By    |   Friday, 16 August 2013 01:18 PM EDT

The Republican National Committee is considering new ways to improve the GOP primary debates in 2016, including a panel of moderators that would include conservative hosts Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin.

According to the Washington Examiner, GOP insiders say they are eager to have questioners who understand Republican policies and beliefs and can get candidates to articulate their different positions on core conservative values.

The idea has reportedly gained some momentum since RNC Communications Director Sean Spicer was asked about debates during a Sirius SM radio interview last week and mentioned Mark Levin as a possible host.

Appearing on The Wilkow Majority, Spicer said it made sense that "the people who are out there talking to grassroots" should be asking the questions in debate forums.

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus also told conservative radio host Andrea Tantaros last week that he would be open to a talk radio debate hosted by Hannity and Levin. "I actually think that's a very good idea," he said.

"I mean, there's a lot of good people out there that can actually understand the base of the Republican Party, the primary voters."
