Bill O'Reilly to Newsmax TV: ABC's 'Been Embarrassed'

(Newsmax TV's "Newsmax Now")

While ABC and CBS are justified for seeking out and firing a whistleblower who leaked an off-air tape, the networks are wrong in covering up for "famous powerful people," according to Bill O'Reilly on Newsmax TV.

"It's been embarrassed, that's for sure," O'Reilly told Thursday's "Newsmax Now." "The same thing NBC's been embarrassed for: Covering up for powerful people."

The reference to NBC is likely for its failing to report Harvey Weinstein's sexual misconduct allegations.

"Does that happen? Yes, it happens all the time at the networks," O'Reilly told host John Bachman. "It's why I left the network news. There is a lot of this synergy between executives in the news department and famous, powerful people. I didn't like it."

O'Reilly, though, supported the firing of a CBS staffer who used to work at ABC after a video leak suggesting reports on Jeffrey Epstein's underage sex trafficking ring had been suppressed by the network.

"I don't like a guy leaking stuff out," O'Reilly added. "It happened to me at 'Inside Edition,' the famous 'we'll do it live' tape. Somebody sold that. Somebody at 'Inside Edition' sold that to make me look bad, and the guy got money.

"So what do I think of that creep? You know, he's a lowlife. So, I don't mind the guy who leaked the ABC tape getting fired by CBS, because he's untrustworthy. If he'll do ABC, he'll do it to you. Out.

"But the biggest question is ABC and NBC didn't report legitimate, important stories because of office politics and that's wrong."

The CBS firing of a whistleblower comes as the Trump administration has been pushing for the unmasking of the anonymous whistleblower because of a political animus against President Donald Trump.
