Kari Lake to Newsmax: 'America Is Under New Management'

By    |   Monday, 20 January 2025 12:14 PM EST

Kari Lake, incoming director of Voice of America, told Newsmax that "America is under new management" with the inauguration of President Donald Trump on Monday.

Rep. Abe Hamadeh, R-Ariz., who joined Lake on the wide-ranging interview, agreed.

"Honestly, it's a historic day, not just for President Trump, but for the American people" Hamadeh said on "Wake Up America." "We've all been put through the damage that Joe Biden and the Democrats have done to our country with the weaponization of the rule of law and all of the regulations and almost entering World War III.

"So, the whole world is breathing a sigh of relief now that President Trump is taking office … and I am so excited to be working alongside President Trump here in Congress to get the America First agenda passed and we're going to do it very quickly."

"It's historic, and I can't be more proud because we've been waiting for justice, the American people have been waiting for justice," he continued. "Just imagine if the election went the other way. If the election went the other way, many people who are going to be Cabinet officials, many people in Congress, might have been in prison. That's what was at stake.

"They put our country to the brink and we can never forget that because we want justice for the American people, we want to make America great again, and that's exactly what we intend to do, starting at 12:01 p.m."

Speaking from Capitol Hill, Lake echoed Hamadeh, telling Newsmax that she has met people "from all over the country" in the past week that she's been in the nation's capital who are just happy to "be in the same place as the president is."

"We know that the weather has caused some changes, so people won't be able to join on the mall, but people don't seem fazed by it," Lake said. "They're just happy to be in Washington, D.C., for this historic moment and, as Congressman Hamadeh said, at 12:01, there's going to be a huge shift.

"There's going to be a huge sigh of relief for, not just the American people, but people around the world. We're bringing back peace and prosperity. We're done with war and poverty. Peace and prosperity is coming to America, it's coming to the world. We're going to watch as wars are wrapped up, we're going to watch as peace deals are negotiated. I like to say Washington, D.C., and America, is under new management, starting at 12:01."
