Alan Simpson: US 'Damn Sick and Tired of GOP Dinging' Obama

By    |   Tuesday, 04 November 2014 06:21 PM EST

Former Sen. Alan Simpson says Republicans will retake the Senate and must strive to work hand in hand with President Barack Obama or face ouster.

"Let me tell you, if they want to play ping pong with Obama, they won't be back in power for 50 years. People are damn sick and tired of the Republicans dinging on Obama," Simpson, a Wyoming Republican, said Tuesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"I mean, you can't do any more dinging, what's left to ding on? You've got a skeleton left, so go in there and govern."

Simpson, who was Senate whip and chairman of the Senate Veteran Affairs Committee, says the first order of business should be the Keystone pipeline project.

"That would be number one, we have this dependency [that] is still there. Everybody in the world with half a noodle knows that you've got to do the Keystone pipeline," he said.

"Get with it, put the pipeline in there, reduce the dependency on the foreign product, and get crackin'. Get these few guys out of the way that are standing there in their shorts waving flags."
