Arizona Rep. Andy Biggs confirmed Sunday on Newsmax that he will run for governor in his home state in 2026, commenting that the state is being run by leaders who are not only anti-American, but also anti-Arizona.
"Arizona should be probably the reddest state in the country," the Republican told Newsmax's "Sunday Agenda." "When God was blessing states, he really blessed Arizona, but one of the things he did is he gave us three leaders at the top who are Democrats, radicals who are anti-American. They're anti-Arizona."
The leaders have vowed to fight deportations from the border state, Biggs said, with Gov. Katie Hobbs, in "one of the first things she did," saying, "We're not going to have a border security task force any longer."
The result of the Democrat governor's action, said Biggs, has been "mayhem" in many of Arizona's cities.
Further, while Arizona's economy is solid, "it could be so much better," Biggs said.
"It's solid in spite of [Hobbs]," he added. "Our tax structure is bad, our regulatory structure is bad."
Meanwhile, with Arizona's resources, including mineral availability, Arizona should be the state where people want to be, said Biggs.
"Everybody shouldn't be looking at Florida," he said. "If I become governor, they're going to be looking to Arizona and saying, 'That's the state that we need to be in.'"
