Belief in the anti-Christ is very real in the doctrines of today's Christian and Islamic societies, according to Dr. Michael Youssef, founder of Leading the Way Ministries.
"Most Evangelical Christians understand what we call the doctrine of Eschatology — that's the end times, the return of Christ," Youssef said Wednesday on "The Steve Malzberg Show" on
Newsmax TV.
"They also know from the scripture that there is a character known as the anti-Christ referred to as the man of lawlessness and different titles."

Youssef — author of
"Jesus, Jihad and Peace: What Does Bible Prophecy Say About World Events Today?" published by Worthy Publishing — says the Bible tells of that person charming his way into people's lives.
"Once he does, he becomes a ruthless dictator dominating the world and immediately after that, Christ will return and he will smite him," Youssef said.
"But the thing most people don't understand … is Islam also has a similar doctrine … While it's slightly different between the Shiite and the Sunnis, they both believe such a person … [the Madi] … is going to come and rule the world.
"In Sunni Islam, for example, they would say the Madi is going to be Jesus who is going to come back and declare himself a Muslim and then he's going to destroy the Jews and the Christians and he's going to rule the world."
"So… they have such a character, such a person, very similar in many ways to the anti-Christ that we believe is going to come and dominate and rule and subjugate the world to himself."
