Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik blasted a Baltimore prosecutor for "ranting and raving" after she dropped the remaining charges in the Freddie Gray case.
During an appearance on Newsmax TV's "The Steve Malzberg Show," Kerik said Baltimore State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby was creating "political theater" by holding a lengthy press conference about the case after she closed the book on it.
"These are charges that shouldn't have been brought in the first place," Kerik said. "I think the prosecutor overreached, I think this is a clear demonstration of that.
"I was really saddened to hear her rant today for more than 13 minutes, speaking as if these officers were still actually guilty, when in fact she had just dropped the remaining charges.
"I think the prosecutor forgets that her job is not to prosecute; her job is to investigate."

Gray died in April 2015, a week after he suffered spinal cord injuries while riding in the back of a police van. Six Baltimore police officers were arrested and charged in the death, but four of the trials ended without convictions. Mosby announced Wednesday the remaining charges have been dropped.
"If she decided to drop the charges, then why was she standing out there ranting and raving that these cops we basically murderers?" Kerik said. Mosby s press conference occurred at the site of where Gray was arrested.
"I think this was another political theater. She's an officer of the court, she has a job to do, and I think she's lost sight of what that job really is."
