Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik told Newsmax TV that the London terrorist attack that killed five people and injured 40 others on Wednesday "should surprise no one" because of the continued threats posed by Islam jihadism.
"This is the war that we face in the West against radical Islam," Kerik, who commanded the city's forces during 9/11, told "Newsmax Prime" host Miranda Khan.

"These people talk consistently about what they're going to do and what they want to do, what they intend to do."
"This guy was known to police," Kerik said, referring to the dead assailant, identified Thursday as Khalid Masood, 52, a West Midlands resident with criminal convictions. "He was known to the London authorities.
"Should be no surprise to anybody that he was involved and engaged in this conduct.
"Most importantly, it should also remind us how important intelligence is in this day and age," he told Khan. "London today is an example of how important that stuff is."
