Political commentator Bill O'Reilly on Wednesday said 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney should run for the seat being vacated by retiring Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch — predicting if he does, "he's going to win."
In an interview with John Bachman on Newsmax TV, the veteran broadcaster asserted Romney would “be good for the Republican Party.”
“I see him as being a very solid choice for the people of Utah if they’re Republicans,” O’Reilly said, adding “if Romney wants to run, he’s going to win. That’s it. So he’s there if he wants it and I think he probably will run.”
O’Reilly told Newsmax TV he got to know Romney when he was governor of Massachusetts.
“I like Mitt Romney,” he said. “I thought he did a very good job as governor of Massachusetts and I worked up there so I knew him pretty well.
“I didn’t like the way he ran his campaign against Barack Obama,” he continued. “I thought he pulled many, many punches, I thought he was on the defensive, I don’t think he articulated his vision for the country very well.
“But he’s a Mormon in Utah, he certainly knows public policy… I think he’s honest. So why not run? He’d be good for the Republican Party.”

O’Reilly noted Romney is “not a bomb thrower” and “he doesn’t like [President] Donald Trump, that’s for sure.”
