Russia and China are “the new axis of evil,” Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., told Newsmax TV Friday while touting a bill that will crack down on those countries’ attempts to “exploit” American liberties.
In an interview on “The Chris Salcedo Show,” Blackburn said “birth tourism” and Confucius Institutes on dozens of U.S. college campuses are taking taking advance of American liberties.
“You know Russia and China are two of what I call the new axis of evil,” she said.
“Look at North Korea, look at Russia, look at China — look at how they try to use our freedoms and liberties: Confucius Institutes, birth tourism. You give them an opening … and they're going to exploit it for their benefit.”
Blackburn also decried the “birth industry ... primarily used by the Russians and Chinese.”
“They will come here to give birth to their child, stay for a few months… for that child to be recognized as a citizen, receive benefits… and when that child wants to go to colleges, argues that they are a U.S. citizen,” she lamented.
She also blasted allowing Chinese professors to come to the United States because “many times these Chinese professors are nothing more than spies.”
“We don't want them coming to the United States… to work with our colleges,” Blackburn said, adding legislation she’s backing a bill to force more accountability.
“We're saying … you are going to have to … jump through some hoops and meet some additional disclosures if you're going to do this,” she said. “You can't allow these Chinese professors to come here because what have we learned, many times these Chinese professors are nothing more than spies.”
