Blue states demanding federal relief aide amid the coronavirus pandemic need to be reminded these are self-inflicted wounds that won't be seen in red states that are reopening, according to former Trump campaign economic adviser Stephen Moore on Newsmax TV.
"What you're seeing right now is the red states are opening and the blue states are not," Moore told "Saturday Report."
It is going to expose a recent Joe Biden attack ad against President Donald Trump's 2020 campaign, Moore added.
The ad begins with a quote from Abraham Lincoln that notes "A house divided against itself cannot stand" before showing images from the April 30 protest in Michigan, when protesters, some armed, entered the state Capitol.
The ad also features Trump's comments at a press briefing in late March in which he discouraged Vice President Mike Pence from communicating with governors such as Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, who criticized the federal response.
"Trump can say it's the Republican governors that got going and reopened their economy and let their business start to reopen and let workers get back to work, people back into parks and do other activities," Moore told host Grant Stinchfield, pointing to Michigan, New Jersey, and Virginia for maintaining long lockdowns.
"Those governors are going to have to explain why they kept their economies shut down so long," he added.
"This is turning out to be a catastrophe; Democratic governors are not opening up their states. they're destroying the livelihood and lives of their own citizens."
