John Boehner will likely remain speaker of the House of Representatives after the midterm elections and a sweeping victory by Republicans, former Republican House Majority Leader Tom DeLay tells
Newsmax TV.
"There are only about 25 races in play in the House and about 13 that are really toss-ups. The Republicans are going to take at least 10 of those," DeLay said Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show."

"We may lose one or two seats, but the net gain is going to be six to 10. What that means as far as Boehner's concerned is he's probably going to be able to pick whether he continues to serve or not.
"I don't think the Republican conference will throw him out of office having gained seats in this election. It's never been done before. They throw out leaders if you lose seats," the Texas Republican said.
At the same time, DeLay believes Boehner will have to present them with a workable agenda for the next two years.
"If he doesn't present them with an agenda you could see at least some people complaining about their leadership," said Delay, adding there are a few GOP lawmakers quietly eying the Ohio Republican's job.
"There's a couple. I won't name them because I don't want to destroy their careers, but there's a couple that are looking at it, and if they see any weakness in Boehner at all they might run," he said.
DeLay criticized what he believes is a media biased against the GOP.
"The media is something the Republicans have always had to deal with," he said. "We've always had to not only fight against outrageous, wacko candidates like what we have running as Democrats now, but we also have to run against the media, too.
"So it's nothing new, it's just that right now I'm laughing because I see all this desperation. These [Democratic] candidates are so desperate they're throwing Hail Marys all over the place," DeLay said.
