Howie Carr: Associate of Boston Bombing Suspect Won't Get Bail

Monday, 23 June 2014 01:48 PM EDT

It is "extremely unlikely" that an associate of Boston Marathon bomber suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will have his request for bail granted, Boston Herald columnist Howie Carr said on Newsmax TV's "America's Forum."

"By his public defender's own admission he has no property in the United States, he has no family in the United States. I mean this is the perfect kind of guy to run away, go on the lamb," Carr said.

Carr said what is more outrageous than the request for bail was that lawyers for Khairullozhon Matanov had received court approval to hire a private investigator to find him an apartment where he can live before he goes to trial.

"He hired a private detective, not a real estate agent, a private detective and you and I picked up the tab," Carr said. "I mean there's probably a dozen people across the street from where I am right now in the Boston Municipal Court today, homeless people who committed various offensives over the weekend. Are they going to get a private detective to find them homes? I don’t think so."
