In an interview with Newsmax on Thursday, Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., expressed concerns about President Joe Biden's decision to remove the Houthi rebels from the foreign terrorist organization list.
Speaking on "Eric Bolling the Balance," Mast highlighted the consequences of the move made shortly after Biden took office.
"Biden took them off the foreign terrorist organization list. And when he did that, he did it so that they could send them more aid. And since that time, America has sent them about $3 billion in aid that they're using now to buy drones and everything else that they want to use to fire against Americans. Let's not forget they're attacking Americans and American interests with our own money," Mast stated.
The congressman emphasized the allocation of funds toward potentially harmful activities, raising questions about the implications of supporting the Houthi rebels. Mast's concern extends to the notion that the aid provided is being used for hostile actions against the United States.
Biden, in a recent interview, acknowledged that the measures taken in response to Houthi attacks were not effective deterrents. Additionally, Mast, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, expressed worries about Pakistan's actions and alignments.
"We should be worried on a number of fronts of the actions of the Pakistanis from their alignments: what they did with Osama bin Laden, what they're doing right now with their alignments with Iran and a number of different places. This is one of those entities that definitely speaks out of both sides of the mouth, constantly playing whatever is in their best interest and not being the greatest ally of the United States of America," Mast stated.
