Donald Trump's success in getting Carrier to keep is manufacturing plant and 1,100 jobs in Indiana shows "we elected a businessman," political commentator Michael Reagan told Newsmax TV.
"He's treating the government, treating running the presidency of the United States as the president of a corporation, a CEO," the eldest son of former President Ronald Reagan told Thursday's "The Steve Malzberg Show."
"It doesn't matter to him about picking up the phone and calling the president or the head of Carrier," he added. "A lot of presidents leave that off to someone else to do that kind of a job because they're not businessmen.
"But now, we have a businessman who says, 'Hey, I'm just going to pick up the phone and call the president [of the company] and talk about it.'"

Regarding the actual deal with the air-conditioner manufacturer, Reagan said "Donald Trump has basically done more in three weeks as president-elect than [Barack] Obama has done in eight years as president of the United States of America.
"You can only hope and pray it keeps going — and more jobs are created or brought back to the United States of America."
Reagan's latest book is "Lessons My Father Taught Me: The Strength, Integrity, and Faith of Ronald Reagan."
