Rep. Wesley Hunt, R-Texas, told Newsmax on Tuesday that President-elect Donald Trump's plan to end the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) One app would mean a "big time" change to the United States' illegal immigration problem.
When asked by "The Record With Greta Van Susteren" if this policy would change things, Hunt responded, "Big time."
"You're already seeing the 'Trump effect' – is what I'm calling it. And the idea that people are going to self-select, to send themselves back to their own country before he even gets elected, is exactly what the American people voted for, to be honest with you. And while it might seem to be a little bit callous, this is exactly what the Democrats created when you allow 20 million people to enter our country illegally, when you allow enough fentanyl to pour into our country to kill every single American five times. At some point, the chickens have to come home to roost."
Newsweek reported that on Tuesday morning, a wave of congressional Democrats penned a letter requesting President Joe Biden to act in light of Trump's prospective ending of the app, which illegal migrants can use to claim asylum.
