David Horowitz to Republicans: Lay Off Trump

Republican lawmakers should not be opposing President Donald Trump on his plan to build a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border, David Horowitz, author of the bestselling book "Big Agenda: President Trump's Plan to Save America," tells Newsmax TV.

"There's a flurry of things he's done today as every day and I think the most disturbing thing are Republicans who are undermining what he's doing," Horowitz, founder of The David Horowitz Freedom Center, said Friday to J.D. Hayworth on "Newsmax Prime."

"Arizona Sen. [John] McCain and [South Carolina Sen.] Lindsey Graham prominent among them. You also have [Alaska Sen. Lisa Ann] Murkowski and [Maine Sen. Susan] Collins. Murkowski is on the payroll of the teacher unions undermining the education secretary choice.

"I fear that the greatest danger is the Republicans won't stay united behind these incredibly bold moves by [Trump]. Very, very good moves."

Horowitz's book reveals Trump's first-100-days strategy and a long-term plan to eliminate the Democrats as a serious political force.

Horowitz said the cost of the U.S.-Mexico border wall Trump plans to build — estimated to be from $12 billion to $15 billion — is small compared to what it will save in other costs.

"It costs so much more to have all these drugs coming in, all the illegals. Having to handle all this stuff is more expensive than the wall? And besides he's going to get Mexico to pay for it," Horowitz told Hayworth.

He is also impressed that Trump is "throwing down the gauntlet" with Vladimir Putin over the Russian president's interference with Ukraine.

"Where are all the apologies from all those people sniping at Trump throughout the campaign and after that he was in league with Putin, that he's Putin's pawn and so forth and so on?" Horowitz said.

"What gets me is that people have been so wrong about Trump on so many issues and they don't have the decency to say, oops! I misjudged him, I didn't know enough about him, I didn't realize he was going to come through.

"Remember they said he's going to lose, he's going to lose in a landslide... he doesn't believe what he says, he talks out of two sides of his mouth, he's a closet liberal, he's in cahoots with Hillary — all of these things which turn out to be really serious political lies."

Horowitz called for Republican lawmakers to unify.

"We need unity on our side. We have a Democratic Party which is vicious, in a near-psychotic state at this point, obstructionist, and we have enemies all over the place."
