Rep. Riley Moore to Newsmax: Will Press Appropriations to Secure ICE Resources

By    |   Tuesday, 28 January 2025 11:52 AM EST

House Appropriations Committee member Rep. Riley Moore, R-W.Va., told Newsmax on Tuesday that he will work with the panel to ensure that President Donald Trump's administration continues to have the resources needed to deport criminal migrants.

"The president was so crystal clear on laying out his America first agenda, and, as it relates to the deportations, we have seen this president move faster in the last week and do more than President Biden did in his entire four years to try to address the border," Moore said on "National Report." "It's not even close. We've seen mass deportations all over this country deporting criminal aliens that are in our country who have committed crimes — rapists, murderers, you name it. I mean, the worst of the worst, and he is making this country safe again.

"I will tell you, as an appropriator on the House Appropriations Committee, I am going to do everything that I can to guarantee President Trump has all the resources he needs to continue these mass deportations," he added.

A week into Trump's second term, federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers are reportedly operating with a renewed sense of mission as they remove criminal illegal immigrants who entered the U.S. during the Biden administration.

Matt Elliston, director of ICE's Baltimore field office, said that the agency is "looking for those public safety, national security cases," but "nobody has a free pass anymore."

Asked to comment on Trump's decision to halt federal funds tied to DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) initiatives, Moore said it "makes a lot of sense" and pointed to the State Department's freeze on new funding for nearly all foreign assistance, with exceptions for emergency food programs and military aid to Israel and Egypt.

"What President Trump and his administration are trying to do is trying to level set and understand exactly what is going on and halt all of the woke nonsense that's been infiltrating our federal government and really get a grip on this and spending the dollars the way that they're intended to be spent and not for indoctrination, not for pushing a left-wing agenda," Moore said.

"So I think this makes a lot of sense, what the president is doing," he continued. "We saw this happen to the State Department, Secretary of State Marco Rubio halting foreign aid. We're trying to level set here, so I think this is a very good move by President Trump and his administration."
