Dick Morris: If Trump Loses GOP Nomination, He's Done

By    |   Thursday, 24 March 2016 07:28 PM EDT

If Donald Trump loses the Republican presidential nomination, "it will be because he was beaten, not because it was stolen from him," political strategist Dick Morris told Newsmax TV on Thursday.

"There is some evidence, not a lot, but some evidence of a trend toward [Ted] Cruz in the last week," he said on the new prime-time Newsmax TV program, "Dennis Michael Lynch: Unfiltered."

"The Arizona result may have awakened a lot of people — and the Fox News poll has it 41-38, the closest it's ever been with Trump in the lead," Morris added. "There's a Wisconsin poll that shows, the latest one, Cruz beating Trump by one point in Wisconsin.

"Trump has tremendous built-in advantages," he noted. "New York State should be Trump territory. That's 95 votes. Connecticut, that's 28 votes. Both those states should be Trump territory.

"But if Cruz can convince people that [John] Kasich is a waste and that they have to stop Trump to win the election, he could begin to score upsets.

"The bottom line is that nobody is going to steal this," Morris concluded. "They can't. What'll happen is if Trump loses, he'll lose."
