Dick Morris: GOP Can Now Finish Ronald Reagan's Agenda

Political strategist Dick Morris told Newsmax TV on Tuesday that the Republican Party would be able to finish Ronald Reagan's agenda because of Donald Trump's showing on Election Day.

"What's happened is the Reagan Democrats are now back in charge," Morris told host J.D. Hayworth on Newsmax TV's "America Votes 2016" election special.

"The Republican Party can resume the work that Ronald Reagan had to abandon in 1988 when his term expired," he said. "The blue-collar, high-school graduate Republican Party."

Critical to Hillary Clinton's showing Tuesday were African-American voters, Morris said.

"While the Southern black vote may well have stayed in line to back Hillary, the Northern black vote may not have.

"We noticed that in the Democratic primary.

"Northern blacks voted for [Bernie] Sanders," he added. "A lot of them voted for Sanders.

"Southern blacks lined up with unanimously for Hillary — and I think you may be seeing an urban-rural, north-south fissure in the African-American community that gives the Republican Party an incredible chance to take those votes."
